About Natural Resource Management

Djaara (Dja Dja Wurrung People) have lived on Djandak for tens of thousands of years, learning to understand how to care for Djandak as Djandak cared for them. We understand how to care for Djandak for the benefit of the whole community and future generations. Much of Djandak still bears the scars of colonisation and shows the impacts of mining, agriculture and land clearing but together we can help renew the landscape to once again be productive, abundant and healthy. Ngaldurrong yana (walk together) with us on Djandak.

Our guiding document is Dhelkunya Dja (Dja Dja Wurrung Country Plan 2014-2034) which contains the hopes and aspirations of Djaara People for returning good health to Djandak.

Our professional team members are highly skilled in landscape management, pest animal control, revegetation, land and waterway remediation and general landscape and infrastructure maintenance. We have the capability to deliver a range of construction and forestry projects while ensuring safety standards are never compromised.

We build mayim-mayim (Djaara shelters), amenity blocks and a range of other landscape infrastructure. We implement galk-galk galkangu (Forest Gardening) projects to return diversity to our forests and manage pest animals and weeds. We deliver landscape design projects that have had Wartaka (Djaara cultural advisory group) input to provide visitor amenities to parks across Central Victoria.

We have strong partnerships with local government agencies, land managers and private businesses which helps us create economic and training opportunities for Djaara youth.
