Goldfield Track Visitor Experience Enhancement

Project Overview

DJANDAK is developing significant new facilities to improve the visitor experience along the Goldfields Track.

The track runs 210km between Bonan Youang (Mt Buninyong, South of Ballarat) and Bendigo. Visitors will experience some of the most spectacular views on Djandak (Dja Dja Wurrung Country), and Dja (Wadawurrung Country).

Project Details

The Goldfields Track shares the stories of Djaara and Wadawurrung People. We have done this through the development and installation of over 70 interpretive signs along the length of the 210km track. The signs feature Traditional Owner stories, language, culture and art. The signage will help to increase visitors understanding and appreciation of Djaara and Wadawurrung culture, and helps to return Traditional Owner culture and values into the landscape.

Three new visitor nodes are also being installed at Liyanganyuk Banyul (Mt Alexander), Bryden Road in Sedgwick and Nuggety Dam near Ballarat. Each will have a shelter, seating and interpretative signage for people to take in while they have a break from walking or riding the track.

Valued at $1.7m, the project is the biggest undertaking by DJANDAK to date.
